About Chiqui

After years of traveling the world and collecting unique treasures Colombian socialite Chiqui de Echavarria opened her first store in the historic center of Cartagena, Colombia.  Named Casa Chiqui the store is a restored warehouse from the 1930’s. Restored by Chiqui herself, Casa Chiqui exhibits accessories and furniture from Bali, Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand and India, Casa Chiqui is constantly evolving; as one exclusive piece goes another-very different- one comes in.

Casa Chiqui surged out of Chiqui’s talent for being a wonderful host at her Cartagena home. “Famed for pushing the boat out with some of the city’s most lavish parties, Cartagena’s ‘hostess with the mostess’, took the same, no expense spared approach to her latest project,” says Rainbow Nelson, founder of travel blog This Is Cartagenaand freelance journalist for Wallpaper* magazine. “There’s nothing quite like Casa Chiqui,” he concludes.

Chiqui’s home in Cartagena, often known for being “the most fabulous residence in town”, according to Jon Lee Anderson, writer for, is an international destination for extravagant parties and plush dinners. The “jasmine-scented, leafy labyrinth of landscaped terraces and half-ruined walls”, as described in Travel & Leisure, is the location in demand for many of Cartagena’s wedding parties.

Since it’s opening in December 2011, Chiqui’s one of a kind concept of hospitality has been at the heart of Casa Chiqui. Casa Chiqui, just as Chiqui’s home, receives world-renowned guests from all corners of the globe in a vibrant bed of colors and influences. As an explorer, Chiqui continually strives to broaden the store’s diverse offering and most recently is working to include in future collections, artifacts from South America with the purpose of show casing local artisans and artists, starting with the tapestry of Colombian artist Jorge Lizarazo.
